Agent Ransack

The cool-sounding application Agent Ransack is a free file searching utility that is supposed to be used on Windows-powered machines to help users quickly locate files. Enter a search query, select some search parameters, and launch the search process - Agent Ransack will then quickly locate the file you’re looking for.

You can run Agent Ransack on a PC powered by any Windows edition from Windows XP SP3 up to Windows 8.1. That PC must meet the following requirements: 66MHz processor, 64MB of RAM memory, 40Mb of free disk space, monitor capable of 800x600 or higher resolution with 256 colors. Low system requirements then, that can be easily met by modern and older PCs alike.

At the top of the application’s interface you will see a File Menu and a toolbar with a few buttons for various functions the application has to offer.
Underneath it there’s a section that you can use to enter a search query and enter a few search parameters.
And down at the bottom, there’s a section that lists all search results and a section that displays more info on the search results.

Agent Ransack, just like FileLocator Lite, is a free version of FileLocator Pro. As you may have already guessed, this means that Agent Ransack and FileLocator Lite do not offer as many features as FileLocator Pro. Sure, the applications will quickly locate whatever file you’re looking for, but they won’t allow you to exclude folders, won’t search within your emails, won’t allow you to navigate back/forward through results, and more.
